Lips have always been considered one of the more expressive and sensual features of the face. However, prior to the 1990's, cosmetic lip enhancement, also known as lip augmentation, was largely ignored. Now there is a huge demand to produce lips that are plumper, smoother and shapelier.

Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds - like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth.

Using a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

What is Lip Enhancement?
Lip enhancement procedures are designed to change the shape of the lip or increase the fullness of the lips. Both the upper and lower lips can be enhanced. For the upper lip, lift procedures can be used to shorten a long upper lip.

Fuller, plumper lips can be achieved by a variety of lip augmentation techniques. Our Aesthetic consultant will help you to select the lip augmentation pattern and sizes that is best for you. Our aesthetic doctor can review the options with you. You may be a good candidate for lip augmentation if you have any of the following conditions:

• Atrophic lips from aging
• The desire to have fuller lips with improved size and shape
This can create:
• An enhanced 'Cupid's Bow' - the curve of your lip between the nasolabial folds
• A stronger vermilion border, the slightly darker border around the edge of your lips
Fuller, poutier lips
• Softened vertical upper lip lines, when the fillers are injected into this area.

Lip enhancement gives you a more defined smile; prevents lipstick bleeding; enhances pout; can turn the corners of the mouth upwards to create a happier expression; and makes you look much younger.

Your Personal consultation
A personal consultation is the first step. Our Aesthetic Consultant will assess your physical and emotional health and discuss your specific cosmetic goals for lip enhancement. A general physical assessment will be made. You should arrive at the consultation prepared to provide complete information about allergies and medications.

Lip Augmentation Procedure
The simplest technique for lip enhancement is injection with Fillers. This Filers can be injected directly into the lip to increase fullness and especially improve the border of the lip with the normal skin (vermillion cutaneous border).
The most promising substance is Restylane and Juvederm (Hyaluronic Acid). This has resulted in nice improvement with minimal down time and results last for 8 months or greater than 1 year.

JUVÉDERM dermal filler is a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment for nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles. Using a fine needle, your healthcare professional eases JUVÉDERM under the skin to fill the soft tissue of the dermis. This adds volume and diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and nasolabial folds or plumper your lip instantly.

While there are a variety of hyaluronic acid fillers, JUVÉDERM is uniquely formulated. A next generation HA filler, JUVÉDERM uses a manufacturing process called HYLACROSS™ technology. HYLACROSS™ gives JUVÉDERM its special smooth-gel structure that holds up over time. That’s why JUVÉDERM is the first smooth-consistency HA gel and the only HA filler that’s FDA approved* to last up to one year with only one treatment.
